When we are highly sensitive, empathic and intuitive or are navigating the inner shifts of awakening, we can become very impressionable and easily lose ourselves.

Other people and their opinions and realities can draw us in, causing us to drift away from our own truth. Social media can fill our energy fields with multiple viewpoints and energy deposits every day. Plus we tend to be more open to other realms and spirits and the collective experience and so can forget who we are.

This isn’t because we are weak souls, not by any means, our sensitivity is our strength, however, as Empaths we take on the thoughts and feelings of others every day and they can cloud our own reality and make us scattered, fragmented and ungrounded.

This can cause us to lose our energy and power without even knowing it’s happening.

 

 

Signs that you have experienced power loss are:

Fatigue, low self-esteem, the inability to make decisions, feeling foggy-headed and muddled, anxiety attacks, being ungrounded with busy mental chatter and feeling nervous and on edge.

So what can we do about it?

Top of the list for Empath self-care is what I call ‘Energy Hygiene’, followed by ‘Reclaiming Your Power’, both should become a daily practice if you are an Empath, are highly sensitive, intuitive or navigating the shifts of awakening as a psychic, mystic or healer.

 

 

Here are my 5 top Energy Hygiene tips:

 

1

Take a salt bath or soak your feet in salt water. Get some really good sea salt or treat yourself to pink Himilayan salt and submerge! It cleanses your aura of energy that isn’t yours and helps ground you back into your body.

Smudge! Grab an incense stick, a sage bundle or smudgestick. Light the end and allow the flame to go out (or gently blow it out) then waft the smoke all around you front and back, top to bottom and all round your sides. This also deeply clears your energy fields of anything that isn’t yours and isn’t for your highest good or greatest joy.

Nature. Get out in it and just be. Sit, lay like broccoli (thanks ‘Pretty Woman’!). Bare skin contact is best so go barefoot if you can or go and hug a tree.

Ask for angelic help. Call on Archangel Michael to clear away all cords and ties between you and anyone else that are not for your highest good or greatest joy.

Breathe! We Empaths and sensitives are notorious for holding our breath. It’s as if we’re afraid we’ll inhale other people’s stuff. Nope! It’s when we hold our breath that we become a vacuum cleaner for all the etheric junk floating around. Breathing deeply into your belly when around others or when you get home helps to flush your system clear. Sit down and take 10 deep breaths into your belly, in through your nose and out through your mouth.

 

 

 

Now here is an energy practice to help you reclaim any lost or scattered power:

Sit comfortably with your feet on the floor and close your eyes.

Imagine a beautiful crystalline magnet over your heart chakra and a golden egg of energy all around you. This is your safe place.

After the count of 3 you’re going to ask your guides, angels and higher self to activate the crystalline magnet over your heart and call back to you any lost, stolen, dislodged, scattered and fragmented parts of you and your soul, life force and power. This will return passing through the golden egg like a cleansing filter and return to your cells, all the spaces between your cells and back into your energy fields, meridians and chakras.

OK. Ready?

Take a big deep belly breath as the energy returns to you.

Keep breathing and allow it all to return in its own time.

When you feel ready, open your eyes, feel your feet, move and stretch and know this process may continue to complete for days or weeks to come. So just notice how you feel.

  1. This is such an excellent article – thank you! I WISH I would have known this growing up. I’m now 59 and understand so many things about my childhood and young adulthood. I tried to like social situations, crazy concerts, loud music – and I always came home with a headache. I can finally understand that I need peace, quiet and alone time. I live a full life (work full time, children and grandchildren, Tarot business), but I also fiercely guard my energy levels and solitude. I surround myself with like-minded, peaceful souls. I no longer apologize for how I am. I’m a sensitive soul who needs to be protected from most of the energies of the world. Keep up the wonderful work!!!
